A dark room with
very good tables.
From Main North Road it is a cream building on a corner, and nothing about the outside suggests what is inside.
Inside: charcoal walls, twelve tables under suspended light rafts, buttoned black leather benches down one side, a counter at the back with a display cabinet, and trophies.
The lighting does what lighting in a proper snooker room is supposed to do. Each table gets its own raft and the room around it goes dark, so you spend the hour looking at a lit rectangle of green and almost nothing else.

Three stars, and he meant it kindly. It is still the best description of the room we have read.
Who is in it
A mixed crowd, several generations, regulars and first-timers, and on most nights a few tables going at once. People who review us tend to call the staff friendly and, more than once, humble.
No alcohol is served. That is the other half of the room’s character. No one has been drinking, so nothing escalates, and the room stays easy however mixed the table next to you is.
It is not for everybody. A couple of reviewers found the lighting over the pool tables too dim, and one found the room unwelcoming. Those are on the reviews page in full, next to everything else.
The room with the lights off
Photographed in daylight with the rafts switched off, it is an ordinary room: green cloth, chrome hangers, a suspended ceiling, a television. Every bit of the atmosphere comes back on with the lamps. That is how every good snooker room works, and it is why the photographs taken at night look like a different building.
